Canadian Roofing Contractors Association to Hold National Roofing Week

The Canadian Roofing Contractors Association has announced Canada’s first annual National Roofing Week celebration will take place nationwide August 24-28 to coincide with NRCA’s National Roofing Week August 23-29.

Inspired by NRCA’s National Roofing Week in the United States, CRCA’s initiative aims to raise awareness of the importance of “having a roof over your head,” Canada’s roofing industry and the important work CRCA members perform year-round. During the week, CRCA’s roofing contractors/members will highlight the importance of roofing professionals in Canadian society through various actions and initiatives, such as job creation, continuing education or involvement in the community.

Each day of CRCA’s National Roofing Week will have a dedicated theme, and CRCA members are encouraged to post photos and videos on social media using #RoofingWeekCanada #CRCA #NationalRoofingWeek and #RoofingCanada.

NRCA Invites the Industry to Celebrate National Roofing Week August 23-29

The National Roofing Contractors Association is inviting all roofing industry professionals to celebrate National Roofing Week August 23-29.

Each year, National Roofing Week increases awareness about the significance of roofs to every home and business and shares the good deeds of the industry. NRCA encourages industry professionals to participate in National Roofing Week by engaging in their communities and informing the public about the essential role roofs and professional roofing contractors play in every community.

In celebration of National Roofing Week, NRCA will host the We are Family Raffle, sponsored by A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply, Aurora, Illinois. Open to all NRCA member companies, the raffle involves companies taking a group photo of all employees — their roofing family — and submitting it to NRCA for a chance to win a prize. NRCA encourages members to stay safe and practice social distancing when necessary when preparing their raffle entry. The deadline for entries is Wednesday, August 19.

Additionally, in the spirit of the industry’s generosity, NRCA Giving Day will be held Tuesday, August 25, to benefit the Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program. The Melvin Kruger Endowed Scholarship Program helps individuals seeking to further their education to pursue careers in the roofing or building construction industries; employees of NRCA contractor and supplier members and their families are eligible.

NRCA also will share roofing professionals’ stories through its social media outlets and Professional Roofing magazine. Companies throughout the United States are encouraged to share their stories of charitable giving, crew and staff appreciation, employee training and signature roofing projects with NRCA.

National Roofing Week 2020 is sponsored by ABC Supply Co. Inc., Beloit, Wisconsin; A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply; Carlisle SynTec, Carlisle, Pennsylvania; GAF, Parsippany, New Jersey; National Women in Roofing; and Polyglass U.S.A., Inc., Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Congressman Casten Acknowledges the Importance of Community Service at National Roofing Week Charity Project

Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) spoke to volunteers June 8 at the site of two Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans homes in Wheaton, Ill., where the National Roofing Contractors Association and Showalter Roofing Service Inc., Naperville, Ill., teamed up for a local charity project for National Roofing Week.

National Roofing Week 2019 took place June 2-8 to raise awareness of the significance of roofs to every home and business.

Organized by NRCA, National Roofing Week is held each year during the first full week of June and serves as a reminder that the roof is one of the most important components of every structure. It is the first line of defense against natural elements, such as rain, snow or wind, yet it often is taken for granted until it falls into disrepair.

National Roofing Week also promotes the good deeds of the roofing industry and stresses the value of professional roofing contractors and the importance of making informed decisions about maintaining or replacing any roof system. During National Roofing Week, NRCA encourages its members to participate by engaging in their communities and informing the public about the essential role roofs and professional roofing contractors play in every community.

Casten started the day with remarks supporting community involvement and the roofing industry.

“I’m not sure there is a better way to get to know your neighbors than to do a construction project with them,” Casten says. “You are making a difference.

“I sit on the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services, which has oversight for all housing components. The first bill we voted on as a committee was the Ending Homelessness Act of 2019 that would appropriate $13.27 billion in emergency relief funding to several critical federal housing programs and initiatives. It is unambiguously true that anything we do to ensure people have housing saves the government money. There is an overarching moral reason for doing this, too. I’m not saying it’s all about money. But once you have a house, attaining food and employment just becomes easier. What you are doing is so eminently important. Thank you for all you are doing.”

National Roofing Week 2019 is sponsored by National Women in Roofing; ABC Supply Co. Inc.; A.C.T. Metal Deck Supply; Carlisle SynTec; FlashCo; GAF; Polyglass U.S.A., Inc.; and Sherwin-Williams.

NRCA Urges Consumers to Recognize National Roofing Week, Identify Local Contractor

The National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) is urging communities to recognize the significance of roofs to every home and business during National Roofing Week, which takes place June 3-9. NRCA also is reminding consumers National Roofing Week comes at the beginning of summer storm season and encourages them to prepare for severe summer weather by identifying a local roofing contractor before a storm hits.

Severe summer weather often is followed by fraudulent contractors who show up and attempt to prey on the emotions of homeowners and business owners whose roofs have been badly damaged by a tornado, hail storm or hurricane.

During National Roofing Week, NRCA is urging consumers to research and find a reputable local roofing contractor ahead of the storm. Having this information in advance will protect storm victims from also becoming the victims of a fraudulent contractor.

“National Roofing Week comes at a time when knowing your local roofing contractor is more important than ever,” said Reid Ribble, NRCA’s CEO. “Homeowners and business owners should protect themselves by putting their roofing contractor’s phone number on their refrigerator or in their cell phone in case of emergency.”

The roof is one of the most important components of a structure. It is the first line of defense against natural elements such as rain, snow or wind, yet it is often taken for granted until it falls into disrepair. During National Roofing Week, NRCA also encourages its members to participate by engaging in their communities and informing the public about the essential role roofs and professional roofing contractors play in every community.

NRCA will recognize National Roofing Week by highlighting the work, training and good deeds of its members and their employees on its various social media outlets.
