New Modular Wall Panel Series

ATAS International is proud to launch Omawall, a new modular wall panel series, which is the most recent addition to their vast product offering. The product name pays tribute to the Dutch heritage of the founders of ATAS.

Omawall is an architectural back ventilated rainscreen wall panel, manufactured in .063 aluminum. It installs quickly and easily in horizontal or vertical orientation without separate gaskets or metal splines, due to the unique interlocking dry joint design. The standard module size is 18” x 96”, however, custom sizes are available. The depth of the panel is 1-1/2” and the reveal measures 5/8”. This panel is ideal for all types of commercial, educational, and healthcare buildings, as well as multi-family residential and mixed-use buildings. Omawall is available in over 40 standard colors, including the new series of matte colors, and in custom colors. For small orders, ATAS has the capability of post-painting the panels at a cost far less than prepainting an entire coil, which ensures meeting a building’s design intent without breaking the budget.

ATAS International, Inc. is a family-owned business that went from a siding and trim installer to an industry leading manufacturer of metal panels for the building envelope, with locations across the United States. Aluminum Trim And Shapes was founded in 1963 by Jacobus “Jack” P. Bus in his home’s basement in Rochester, NY where he and wife, Nel, and children resided.

The journey to become business owners started when Jack and Nel moved from the Netherlands in the 1950s. The hardworking duo saw a business opportunity while Jack was installing siding and trim in Rochester. Prior to the advent of portable forming equipment, he noticed contractors did not have the ability to bend their own products on-site. Jack then had the idea to do it for them and provided bent trim and other products to the contractors for their projects. This business was well-received, and the company has seen tremendous growth over the decades.

Opaline has been a popular product offered by ATAS for many years, which is used in wall, soffit, and ceiling applications. Opa is Dutch for grandfather, so it seems fitting that Omawall join the family of products, as Oma is Dutch for grandmother.  If viewed as an acronym, OMA also stands for Outstanding Modular Application.

Dick Bus, president of ATAS, stated, “Since my parents started this company over 57 years ago, we have continued to increase our product and color offering to meet the desires of building owners and architects.  I’m pleased to add Omawall to our family of products, as a nod to my parents, and the company’s third-generation owners’ grandparents; their Oma and Opa.”

Construction Debris Removal System

Quantum Smart Solutions, LLC offers the Smart Chute, a construction debris removal system designed for both roofing and demolition. Primarily made from non-rusting aluminum and stainless steel, the chute sections were designed to nest into one another for ease of assembly and transport. The different chute panels lock into place along the rails during assembly. At the top, the system is attached to the structure with heavy-duty hinges that allow debris to proceed on a downward angle to either a dumpster or directly into a truck.

The Smart Chute was designed to facilitate debris removal up to a four-story elevation. It is meant to make the demolition process more efficient by sending debris directly to the collection point. Material is only handled one time, eliminating wasted man-hours. When used in conjunction with Quantum’s own Eave Stops, the Smart Chute Systems add an additional level of protection for the customers’ assets and helps to provide a safer jobsite environment. Eave Stops mount directly at the roof eave and are meant to prevent debris from falling off the roof and to prevent debris from accumulating in gutter systems. They are 8 feet long by 1 foot high and made of heavy gauge aluminum so they will never rust. They’re also designed with an added bend to provide strength & durability. Vinyl Eave Stop Labels are also available to display your company logo and contact information and help promote your business.

The Smart Chute is offered in 20 and 40 foot lengths and each system is adjustable to fit virtually any work site. The Smart Chute is patented in both the USA and Canada.

Eco-Friendly Extruded Polystyrene Insulation Panels

SOPREMA, Inc. releases its new SOPRA-XPS product line, a mix of extruded polystyrene thermal insulation panels, with applications in inverted roofing membrane assemblies (IRMA roofs), foundations, walls and civil engineering projects.

Thanks to its dense closed-cell composition, SOPRA-XPS has a consistent long-term R-value (LTTR) of 5 per inch, even at low temperatures, and offers one of the greatest compressive strengths in the insulation market, making it efficient, versatile and even more eco-friendly.

The line has even earned the coveted GREENGUARD Gold certification, which incorporates stringent selection criteria and the most demanding safety factors for volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. GREENGUARD Gold-certified insulation is part of the solution for improving indoor air quality. It ensures that a product is acceptable in high-risk environments, such as schools and healthcare facilities.

The SOPRA-XPS product line is also produced without HFC-134a gas as a blowing agent, meaning it will have no effect on the ozone depletion potential and a much lower global warming potential (GWP).

“In fact, the impact on the global warming potential is reduced by more than 95 percent,” said Tom Stuewe, SOPREMA product manager for liquid products and SOPRANATURE. “Thanks to SOPREMA’s exclusive and innovative process, the SOPRA-XPS line contains up to 70 percent recycled content, making SOPREMA the leading XPS insulation manufacturer in terms of recycled content.”

SOPREMA has manufactured the following products in the SOPRA-XPS line:

  • SOPRA-XPS 20 is designed to insulate above-grade exterior walls and residential applications on exterior foundation walls and under foundation slabs.
  • SOPRA-XPS 25 CW is ideal for the insulation of cavity walls, and it fits perfectly between wall ties because of its convenient sizes and thicknesses.
  • SOPRA-XPS 30 is designed for the insulation of exterior foundation walls and under foundation slabs.
  • SOPRA-XPS 35 is ideal for the insulation of new or refurbished inverted roofs to improve their thermal resistance.
  • SOPRA-XPS 40, 60 & 100 are designed for heavy load applications requiring high-density insulation. These include inverted roofs, such as green roofs and roof terraces, and certain applications under foundation slabs that support dead or live heavy loads.

“Its resistance to water and moisture makes SOPRA-XPS an ideal choice in all applications, even in areas exposed to moisture,” Stuewe added. “Even when exposed to moisture, SOPRA-XPS is mold and bacteria resistant.”

Stand-on Electric Powered Forklift Designed for Narrow Aisles and an Order Picker for Versatile Operation

Combilift officially launched the latest addition to its product portfolio in a virtual press conference on February 3rd. The NEW Aisle Master-OP (AME-OP) is a pioneering stand-on electric powered model that combines the advantages of a narrow aisle articulated forklift and an order picker for versatile operation in warehousing applications.

The development of this model was influenced by customer feedback – as has often been the case with Combilift’s innovations – as well as the recent soaring growth of e-commerce. “Customers already using the Aisle Master for space saving, storage and efficiency in their warehouse asked if we could redevelop the Aisle Master to meet their ever-growing demand for order picking customized orders”, said Combilift CEO Martin McVicar.

Research & Development carried out in 2019 & 2020 has created the Aisle Master-OP. The main feature of this unit is the step-through operator compartment which has design copyright protection (U.S. Design Application No. 29/541,841) across multiple markets worldwide. The low floor height of just 11” enables convenient, single step access from both sides of the truck which speeds up order picking compared to the operator having to get on and off from a seated position. The AME-OP truck has all the key advantages of the conventional Aisle Master – indoor/outdoor, for loading/offloading and for stock replenishment at other times during shifts when order picking is complete.

The Aisle Master-OP is available in a number of variants, with lift capacities up to 3,300-6,000lbs, lift heights up to 39ft and can operate in aisles as narrow as 72”.  It features a patented chain steering system (U.S. Patent No. 9,586,798), which allows the truck to articulate more than 205°, with an inline drive motor and front drive axle assembly, all of which enable narrower aisle operation. The multifunctional programmable joy stick control lever in the operator compartment, which includes controls for the hydraulics and traction, is adjustable to enable comfortable and ergonomic working conditions for operators of all sizes. The Operator Presence Detection floor pad engages the parking brake automatically when the operator steps off the truck to carry out Order Picking.

“Before we officially launch any new model, Combilift carry out extensive field testing on customer’s sites, this was the case with the Aisle Master-OP”, said Martin McVicar. The AME-OP is now a production model within Combilift, with units currently in build for customers in the United States and in New Zealand – one of which is Sorted Logistics based in Christchurch New Zealand, a third-party logistics provider and freight forwarder who will be receiving eight AME-OP units shortly.

“This is a major innovation in the warehousing sector,” added Martin, “and the versatility to use the one Aisle Master for multiple applications – narrow aisle operation, truck to rack handling, bulk picking and item order picking – will result in strong demand for this new product in our home and export markets around the world.”

Composite Shake Available in Three New Colors

Bellaforté, the most affordable shake product available from DaVinci Roofscapes, now comes in the three unique colors of the company’s Nature Crafted Collection: Black Oak, Aged Cedar and Mossy Cedar.

Available previously on DaVinci Multi-Width and Single-Width Shake composite roofing tiles, the realistic Nature Crafted Collection colors have grown in popularity since their introduction just a few years ago. Homeowners have gravitated to the nature-inspired colors that replicate different progressive aging processes found on real shake shingles.

“The Nature Crafted Collection captures the look of a moment and retains it for decades,” said Wendy Bruch, marketing manager at DaVinci Roofscapes. “The popularity of these colors is so great that we’re now extending them to our durable Bellaforté Shake tiles.”

According to the company, the proprietary process technology at DaVinci Roofscapes allows the company to recreate the natural warmth and soft patinas found in the Nature Crafted Collection.

The Black Oakcolor reminds people of natural cedar shingles that have been saturated with moisture and mold for many years. The color tells the story of dark, aged mature-looking cedar on a home. The Aged Cedar color reflects a burnt reddish cedar tone. This color is generally found when there’s a transition from a new cedar shake roof into the weathered deeper tone. Mossy Cedar features a damp, greenish character. While in real cedar this is achieved by moss and lichen that are not good for the longevity of the roof, the color is one that people desire for their natural-looking shake roofs.

“The Nature Crafted Collection is for people who are true lovers of cedar shake shingles,” said Bruch. “They get the colors they desire from the very first day the roofing tiles are installed, without waiting years for the aging process to occur. The hues are remarkably realistic and are ‘locked in’ for a lifetime on the roof. Best of all, with composite roofing people have none of the maintenance hassles or decay worries they would normally experience with real cedar shingles.”

Designed as a reasonably-priced, top quality shake shingle that resists hail, impact, decay and fire, Bellaforté Shake has steadily grown in popularity since being introduced to the marketplace. The authentic-looking composite shake tiles resist splitting, cracking, curling and fading. Plus, they’re crafted to resist mold, algae, fungus and insects.

“Imagine a cedar shake roofing tile that is never negatively impacted by time or weather,” said Bruch. “That’s Bellaforté Shake. There are no hassles of dealing with problems associated with real wood. Homeowners get all the benefits of the look of real shake, but with a Lifetime Limited Materials Warranty. When compared to other roofing options, the allure of a Bellaforté Shake product in Black Oak, Aged Cedar or Mossy Cedar is appealing. Available at an affordable price, with the natural cedar look and none of the ongoing maintenance hassles of real cedar, the result is impressive.”
